From the Author: To serve on United States Navy submarines was both a thrill and
an honor. Not everyone is made for the life of a submariner. I want my writing
to bring to everyone a small taste of what serving in the silent service is all
about. Submarine service is the thrill of the hunt, long dangerous hours, in a
cold unforgiving sea. It is also long boring hard hours of work and sweat. What
makes people want such a life. I want to paint you a picture of just who these
people are.
